Guidelines for open, respectful discussion during debates and group work:
1. Step Up / Step Back
If you speak frequently, make space to listen; if you are usually quiet, challenge yourself to share your insights.
2. Critique Ideas, Respect People
Disagree using evidence and reasoning rather than personal criticism. Ask clarifying questions first.
3. Respectful & Confidential Space
Personal experiences shared in this room remain in this room; learning and ideas leave the room.
Add one guideline you would like our class to follow:
Private Reflection #1
Prompt:"What is one thing you already do in your life (at home, school, on a team, or online) that counts as active citizenship?"
Citizenship includes everyday actions: helping a neighbor, translating for family, standing up against exclusion, volunteering, or maintaining a shared space.
